Say hi
to an absence.
A message to a person, place, thing, or phenomenon you may never meet again.
This project follows from the experience of leaving my homeland more than four years ago.
Choose someone or something you think you may never meet again, for whatever reason. Address a short message to them, or to it.
My friend Oleg Litvishko and I are currently working on the album called The Art of Losing. The title was inspired by Elizabeth Bishop’s poem One Art. We plan to finish it by the end of the year.
We want to crowdsource the lyrics for a couple of tracks.
Listen to the music and contribute a message in any language, or simply a sound: up to 100 words or 30 seconds of audio. You can record here or upload an existing audio file.
Written messages may be read aloud by a person or voiced using AI. In the optional private comment, you can provide context, indicate whether you prefer human or AI narration, and describe the voice or delivery you would like for either option.
If your recording is not in English or Russian, we’ll be really grateful if you provide the text in the comment box.
The deadline for submissions is November 10, 2026.
We cannot guarantee that every submission will be used on the album. But we will also create a generative music project for this website, recycling and reworking all submitted messages and sounds.
Private comments will not be published or used as part of the music.
